Now the hard part for her wasn't giving up the alcohol. So to keep herself going, Syd often felt like she had to keep drinking. Because before she stopped drinking, soon she'd feel that classic introvert exhaustion from having to put out so much energy in social situations. Going out is fun for her, but only for a while. But Syd was also, or is, still is, an introvert. She could always live without alcohol if she wanted to, and she wasn't drinking every day. However, it wasn't just a snap your fingers and 'Voila!' kind of transition. And I think the biggest turning point for me was I left a relationship with someone because of their drinking.ĬHAKRABARTI: Syd tells us that she feels lucky that she could stop drinking alcohol by choice.
